NCBC and MSU Prepare for the First Judicial Administration Program Graduation
By Maureen E. Conner

National Conference of Bankruptcy Clerks (NCBC) members, who have been participating in the Judicial Administration Certificate Program offered by Michigan State University (MSU) in partnership with the NCBC, will soon have their commitment and dedication recognized and honored. After five-years of attending courses at the annual conferences and then completing their capstone projects, they will graduate. The 2009 NCBC Annual Conference will host the first NCBC/MSU graduation ceremony.

The first five-year course cycle will be completed by the close of the 2008 NCBC Annual Conference in San Antonio on August 5-8. The MSU courses offered at this conference are: Information Technology Management; Essential Components of Courts; and Education, Training, and Development. Students will have the opportunity to complete their certificate program course requirements at that conference. Students who were unable to attend all of the NCBC/MSU course offerings from 2004-2008 and want to graduate with the first student cohort, may take MSU online courses or receive approval to apply attendance at other MSU approved judicial administration courses toward fulfilling the certificate requirements. A listing of approved courses can be found below.

Students approaching the end of the certificate program will soon receive the information they need to prepare for completing the Judicial Administration Program certificate requirements, including a student record audit report, capstone project requirements, and a listing of course options that students can use to complete any gaps in their course attendance. Students starting the program in 2005 or later will be eligible for graduation in 2010 and beyond. Accelerating completion of the courses resulting in early graduation is possible by taking the MSU online courses and courses from other partner-provider organizations. Those students who do so will be able to attend graduation ceremonies at each NCBC annual conference following the 2009 conference.
